Problem Tech Solves

Tech Brief

XV LVAS stands apart from other products as the only imaging solution to quantify ventilation throughout regional levels of the lungs. Pulmonary Function Tests average the whole lung and require a 20% variance to be clinically significant, while XV LVAS can detect reproducible metrics in early-stage disease. To overcome the challenges of only viewing the lungs from a structural standpoint, as do X-ray and CT, our technology allows for the transformation of current imaging into a functional study in four dimensions. XV LVAS scans are non-invasive, non-contrast procedures that take less than five minutes to scan the patient and approximately 15 seconds of exposure time with a very low dose of .2-.5 mSv.

Tech Differentiators

XV LVAS leverages existing hospital equipment without any capital expenditure and with simple integration into routine workflow. Images show regional lung function throughout tidal breathing. The dynamic images captured produce the functional insight of spirometry but at a regional level and the high-resolution detail of CT. XV LVAS delivers data to clinicians that demonstrates respiratory deficiencies in a dynamic interactive interface in addition to a PDF report. As a patient-centered organization, we ensure this easy-to-read report allows for greater collaboration between patient and physician, resulting in a more patient-involved approach to care and treatment. These output biomarkers include regional ventilation, ventilation distribution, ventilation defect score, ventilation heterogeneity, and tidal volume. Ventilation defect percentage is more sensitive to change than spirometric values. The ability to assess lung heterogeneity depicts variability in lung performance. The dynamic report allows for visualization of regional lung function as you scroll through the axial or coronal views.

Validation

The use of our technology has the capability to improve patient outcomes through early detection. With our greater sensitivity to detection of early fibrotic changes, 4DMedical will improve the lung imaging process as patient wait times will decrease and refine the treatment approach process. This impact on patient care can reduce hospital stays and the potential financial burden for the patient. Clinical trials are underway at major academic institutions, with publications to follow.
